Explore Elmore
Explore Elmore and Explore Elmore – short version are self-guided walking tours highlighting natural, historical and architectural points of interest in the picturesque North Central Victorian town of Elmore.
Accessible via Walking Maps (http://walkingmaps.com.au/) and launched in conjunction with the NEW Elmore website, these loops are a great way to explore Elmore on foot, whether you are a resident or visitor.
Explore Elmore is an intermediate 6.67km loop which may take 100 minutes to complete and is therefore perfect for residents wanting to show off their town to visiting friends and family, or visitors to Elmore wanting to understand and experience some of the town’s history. This walk takes in a range of highlights within the town centre, along the river and on the east and west sides of the train line. The walk features 48 points of interest, all with descriptions and most with photographs.
Explore Elmore – short version is an intermediate 2.29km loop which may take 34 minutes to complete and is therefore perfect for visitors with limited time or for school groups or families with young children who would find the longer version a stretch. This walk takes in a range of highlights within the town centre and along the river. The walk features 35 points of interest, all with descriptions and most with photographs.
Details for these walks have been generously provided by The HV McKay Rural Discovery Centre - Campaspe Run and The Elmore Progress Association (EPA) Museum using research originally undertaken by Thelma Shearer and Norma Holmberg.
Walkers are reminded to take care crossing roads, and should be aware that concrete footpaths DO NOT extend throughout these walks.
